Since we will be talking about shopping in Bangkok, we can divide our article in two parts. These are Day shopping and Night Shopping

Day Shopping

  • MBK: MBK Center, also known as Mahboonkrong (Thai: มาบุญครอง), is a large shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand.[1][2] At eight stories high, the center contains around 2,000 shops, restaurants and service outlets, including the 4-story Tokyu department store. The MBK Center management reports daily visitor numbers of more than 100,000, half of whom are young Thai people and a third foreign visitors.

  • Pantip Plaza: Pantip Plaza is an indoor IT shopping mall located on New Phetchaburi Road in Ratchathewi district, Bangkok, Thailand
    • Location: 604/3. Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand
    • How to go: You can take sky train till Ratchathewi Station. After that you can walk (10 minutes maximum) or you can take motor cycle taxi (THB 20, always available and best for solo traveller) or tuktuk (THB 50, subject to availability).

  • Platinum Fashion Mall: The Platinum Fashion Mall is a 5 billion baht shopping mall in Pratunam, Bangkok, Thailand, which specializes in fashion clothes and accessories retail and wholesale.
    • Location: Bangkok, จังหวัด กรุงเทพมหานคร 10400, Thailand
    • How to go: You can take sky train till Ratchathewi Station. After that you can walk (10 minutes maximum) or you can take motor cycle taxi (THB 20, always available and best for solo traveller) or tuktuk (THB 50, subject to availability). Or you can take water Ferries and come till Pratu Nam station. After that cross the road and Platinum Fashion Mall is in front of you.

  • Central World: CentralWorld is a shopping plaza and complex in Bangkok, Thailand. It is the tenth largest shopping complex in the world.

    • How to go: Take Sky train and come till Chit Lom Station, After that, walk to 5/10 minutes.

  • Chatuchak Weekend Market: The Chatuchak (or Jatujak; Thai: จตุจักร) Weekend Market, on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road, Chatuchak, Bangkok, is the largest market in Thailand.[1] Also known as JJ Market, it has more than 8,000 stalls, divided into 27 sections. Chatuchak Market sells nine kinds of goods: plants, antiques, pets, food and drinks, fresh and dry food, ceramics, furniture and home decor, clothing, and books.

  • Siam Paragon: Siam Paragon is a shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand. It is the current 3rd largest mall in Thailand, following CentralWorld and CentralPlaza WestGate, and one of the biggest shopping centres in Asia.

    • How to go: Take sky train and go till SIAM BTS Station. The market is below the station.

  • Terminal 21: Terminal 21 is a mixed-use complex on Sukhumvit Road, near the Asoke intersection, in Bangkok, Thailand.
    • Location: 88 Soi Sukhumvit 19, Khwaeng Khlong Toei Nuea, Khet Watthana, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10110, Thailand
    • How to go: Take sky train and go till Asoke BTS Station. The market is below the station
    • Special for: It is a mix of brand shop and non-brand shops. They also have Cineplex and a big food court which tourist must try.

  • Asiatique The Riverfront: Asiatique The Riverfront is a large open-air mall in Bangkok, Thailand. It is situated in the former docks of the East Asiatic Company, and faces the Chao Phraya River and Charoen Krung Road
    • Location: 2194 Charoen Krung Rd, Khwaeng Wat Phraya Krai, Khet Bang Kho Laem, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10120, Thailand
    • How to go: Take sky train and go till Saphan Taksin BTS Station. After that, walk towards Central Pier/Sathorn (Taksin). From there you will get free ferry towards Asiatique The River Front Market. Best time to go there in late afternoon so that you can also enjoy the lights in the dark.

  • Mega Bangna: Mega Bangna is the latest mammoth to hit town. This 35,000 square metres low rise shopping mall is mainly known as the home of IKEA, attracting a huge crowd of ‘Do It Yourself’ home decorators.

    • How to go: Take sky train till Udom Suk BTS Station and get free shuttle bus from there.
    • Special for: Mix of brand shops and non brand shops.

  • Bobae market: The biggest whole sale market in Bangkok.

  1. PATPONG NIGHT MARKET: Busy night bazaar with many stalls hawking gifts, souvenirs, clothing & street food.

  2. JJ GREEN: JJ Green Night Market might just be the coolest place to shop in Bangkok, with its much more chilled-out, bohemian vibes when compared to the capital’s gargantuan Chatuchak Weekend Market just down the road.

  4. SAPHAN PHUT NIGHT MARKET: Saphan Phut night market’ also known as ‘Memorial Bridge night market’, is a popular shopping destination in Bangkok covering a decent area. The market is named after the towering Memorial Bridge based in the heart of old Bangkok. It is located right next to the flower market and is a pretty hip place for younger locals to hang out and do their thing.
